Dear Eagle Family!

Let me reintroduce myself… My name is Tanyia Clagette, and I am the new principal of New Manchester Elementary School. While I have been the assistant principal of New Manchester for the past four years, my relationship with Douglas County Schools started over 20 years ago as a third-grade teacher at Eastside Elementary School. During my time in Douglas County, I have worked as a teacher, instructional coach, and assistant principal, and now have the awesome opportunity to serve as the principal of our great school. It is truly an honor and I could not be more excited for the start of the school year. I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you our goals for the upcoming school year that are in line with the district’s strategic goals.

Teaching and Learning: At New Manchester Elementary, we believe in fostering a love for learning and empowering students to reach their fullest potential. Our team of dedicated educators is committed to delivering high-quality instruction that is both engaging and challenging. Through innovative teaching methods, we aim to inspire critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong passion for knowledge. We encourage students to embrace new opportunities, ask questions, and actively participate in his/her educational journey.

Stakeholder Engagement: We firmly believe that education is a collaborative effort between students, parents, guardians, faculty, staff, and the wider community. Your involvement and support are integral to the success of our school. We are committed to maintaining open lines of communication and fostering strong partnerships. Regular parent-teacher conferences, school events, and various volunteer opportunities will allow you to engage with the school community and actively contribute to your child's educational experience. Together, we can create a nurturing environment that supports and celebrates the achievements of every student

Culture and Climate: Creating a positive and inclusive school culture is of utmost importance to us. We are dedicated to cultivating an environment that promotes respect, empathy, and understanding among all members of our school community. We celebrate diversity and encourage a sense of belonging for every student, regardless of their background, race, ethnicity, or individual differences. We aim to foster a safe and welcoming space where everyone feels valued and supported, enabling them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Resources: To facilitate success, the district provides a wide range of research-based resources for the students and staff. Our well-stocked library offers a wealth of books, research materials, and online resources to enhance learning and promote independent study. Additionally, our dedicated guidance and counseling team provides personalized support to address the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students. The list of extracurricular activities, clubs, and sports programs we offer continues to grow. They allow students to explore their interests and develop new talents.

As we approach the start of a new academic year, we want to extend our warmest welcome to all the parents and students who will be joining our school community. We are excited to embark on this journey together, fostering an environment of growth, curiosity, and collaboration. Our dedicated team of educators is committed to providing the best possible education, ensuring that every student thrives and reaches their full potential. We value open communication and encourage parents to actively participate in their child's education. We believe that by working hand in hand, we can create an enriching and rewarding experience for everyone involved. Let us embrace the upcoming year with enthusiasm and a shared sense of purpose, knowing that together, we can make a positive difference in the lives of our students. Here's to a successful and fulfilling academic year ahead!
